Hermes
Rest in Peace, Hermes
Hermes was a gentle, loving boy who proved every day that he was so much more than just a reptile. Whether he was perched on a shoulder, curiously peering out the patio doors, or finding a clever place to hide in a pair of shoes, his presence filled the room.
Though his life was far too short at only three years, the lessons he left behind are lasting. Through him, I learned patience, the subtle language of a dragon, and most importantly, how to love a companion regardless of their species. Our bond was truly special; Hermes knew his name, would seek me out for comfort, and would spend long moments staring into my eyes—a quiet way of admiring his favorite person.
In his final moments, Hermes laid on my chest, and I truly believe he knew I needed him more than ever. Letting him go was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but it was an act of love. Home will not be the same without his quiet companionship, but his memory will always be cherished.
I love you, buddy.
